We sell high-density polystyrene panels that look just like rock. They can be installed on any wall in place of rock, except that they are much lighter. I typical composite rock panel weighs in at over 7 lbs; these are typically 2 lbs. Since they can be screwed or glued to a surface, anybody can install these using a screwdriver and any type of saw. The panels interlock much like laminate flooring, so that joints are invisible and strong. Kwikstone's faux rock panels resist moisture and fading, and have a documented Class B fire rating. In fact, there is a 20 year warranty from the Canadian manufacturer Quality Stone.
Come down to the showroom, pick out your style and color. There are 4 styles and up to 5 colors in each, so it won't take long to decide. If you do have trouble, take a sample home with you, or browse our online store. If you need suggestions from professionals, we can come out and have a look at your home or business. If you snap a picture of your project area, email it in to us for appraisal. Include a measurement if you need cost estimates. We can also overlay some sample stone tiles over your picture to simulate the finished look. This will give you a really good idea of the right way to go.
Actually it is hard to damage. Polystyrene is quite resilient, it can be hit pretty hard with something like a golf ball and nothing will happen. But like any material, a sharp hard object will make a dent. We have specially formulated caulking to fill those types of holes, with colors to match what is there. We have not seen any tiles damaged by hail at this point.
There is a 20 year warranty on Quality Stone tiles. They are guaranteed not to weather under normal conditions, and fair quite well in Alberta summers and winters.
